2) On Sat., April 8 - check into the conference (opens at 9:45am)
3) Once you have checked in - Sign-up at the registration table for which mentor table you'd like to participate.

Alexandria butlerAlexandria Noel Butler, affectionately known as Lexi B, wears many hats including entrepreneur, speaker, editor, and writer. Raised in St. Louis, MO and living in the Silicon Valley, she graduated from Stanford University in 2011 with majors in Communication and Spanish. After informally documenting her escapades as a young professional, Lexi B founded Grown Up Truth to discuss the professional and personal experiences of millennials. With statistics that include 10,000+ subscribers and 12,000+ monthly hits, Grown Up Truth has become a destination for candid conversations and opinions about navigating adulthood. Lexi’s writing audience spans multiple platforms such as Levo League, For Women to Women, and Rebel Magazine. In March 2016, Lexi B joined Airbnb as a project manager, working on cross functional initiatives in finance, compliance and legal. When she is not project managing in SF, she spends her time speaking in panels, leading workshops and participating in key note speaking engagements about a variety of topics including diversity in tech, Blackness in America, career growth and development. bhavna hariharanBhavna Hariharan is an affiliated scholar at the Kozmetsky Global Collaboratory at Stanford University. Her research in engineering education focuses on engineering design with under-served communities globally, identifying and studying the variables that affect the efficacy and impact of global engineering efforts with impoverished communities, understanding engineering identity formation as a global, interdisciplinary profession and evaluating the preparedness of engineering students for global work. Her other research interests are in engineering ethics and the role of care in global engineering as well as the historical and contemporary role of customers in shaping engineering education. She has a passion for teaching and enjoys engaging with students of all ages and developing curricula that will simultaneously challenge and delight students and cultivate in them a motivation for lifelong learning.

Dr. diana P. englishDr. Diana P. English is presently a Clinical Assistant Professor in Gynecologic Oncology at Stanford Hospital and Clinics. Dr. English received her medical school training at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica where she graduated with honors. After graduating from medical school in 2005, she then worked as an intern followed by working as a medical officer in Jamaica for 2 years before starting residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida. After completing residency, she began fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at Yale University in 2012. Following her fellowship, Dr. English joined the Gynecologic Oncology team at Stanford Hospital and Clinics.Dr. English has shown herself to be a dedicated researcher and has several original research papers related to targeted therapeutic approaches to Uterine Serous Carcinoma with several publications in high impact journals.
She maintains an interest in serving her community as well and has had the opportunity to work as the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Junior Fellow Chair for the Florida section (2011-2012). She also has a strong interest in international service particularly medical mission trips to developing countries. Her main interests include: Cancer prevention strategies | Uterine cancer | Cervical cancer | Ovarian cancer | Health disparities in gynecologic oncology Outside of work, Dr. English maintains an avid interest in playing and watching sport when the time allows |
Diana VizcarraDiana Vizcarra proudly serves her home community of East San Jose as a Impact Director with City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley. Her background as a daughter of Mexican immigrants and first generation college graduate are the foundation of why she serves. Diana holds a BA in Comparative Literature from Stanford University, where she began to serve middle school students from East Palo Alto as a part of the East Palo Alto Stanford Academy. After graduation, she served as a Citizen Schools AmeriCorps Founding Teaching Fellow at the McKinley Institute of Technology in Redwood City, CA, and held subsequent positions as a MATCH Corps Tutor at the MATCH Charter Public High School in Boston, Founding Campus Director with Citizen Schools at the Thomas R. Pollicita Middle School in Daly City, CA, and MATCH Corps Director at the MATCH Charter Public Middle School in Jamaica Plain, MA. In addition to her commitment to educational equity as a part of these organizations, Diana also recently supported the opening and growth of Worlds Yoga and its community, as the practice is personally integral to her success as an educator. As a part of City Year, Diana is emboldened to be partnering with school teams and districts to realize their shared vision of delivering on the expectation that each child, in every community, will be excellently educated to have equity of opportunity to influence his/her own destiny.

Ellen Merrick PetrillEllen Petrill is a retired energy research professional and a volunteer, focusing on supporting women’s growth and leadership. During her 38-year career, Ellen worked at the Electric Power Research Institute, helping electric utilities move efficient technologies to markets, researching how to improve power plant efficiency, and developing new combustion systems. She also worked in client and regulatory relations. Ellen is active with Cap and Gown, Stanford Women’s Leadership Organization, to strengthen the community of women at Stanford. Ellen is also a high school mentor. She believes that women can do even more than they think they can and brings fresh messages to women students and professionals to help them see their own potential as clearly as possible. Ellen is a Toastmaster, speaking and helping others grow through the Toastmasters International organization. She earned BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford.

gayathri rajanGayathri Rajan is the VP of Product Management leading Google's Geo (Maps ++) monetization efforts. She gets to work with some of the brightest technical minds from around the world to build and promote products that have impact at a truly global scale.
Prior to joining Google, Gayathri worked in engineering and product management positions at companies including Unilever, Air Products and The Vanguard Group. From soap to liquid nitrogen to mutual funds, there was always a way to make things better with technology! Gayathri holds degrees in Chemical Engineering (Cambridge University) and Computer Science (University of Pennsylvania), as well as an MBA from Stanford University. Her greatest technical accomplishment is raising two girls who know more computer science than she does! |
Liz sandersLiz Sanders teaches English at De Anza High School in her hometown of Richmond, California, and is a Teach Plus California State Policy Fellow. As an alumna of the school district in which she teaches, Liz's work is fueled by the conviction that sustainable school change is a collaborative effort between educators and the communities they serve. At De Anza, Liz serves as the English Department chair and the faculty director of De Anza's student-run Writing Center, which was awarded a WCCUSD Summer of Innovation Grant in 2014 and a Chamberlin Family Foundation Inspiration Grant in 2015. Under her supervision, the Writing Center student staff has grown to over 50 students who provide 1:1 tutoring and lead multilingual writing workshops. Liz wrote a research methods course that helps ninth-graders build key tech skills while investigating critical issues in their communities; this course is now required for all freshmen at De Anza High and is expected to expand to additional schools next year. Liz negotiates on behalf of over 1,300 educators as the Bargaining Chair of the United Teachers of Richmond. As a Teach Plus California State Policy Fellow, Liz works with teachers and legislators throughout California to amplify the voices of current classroom teachers in the creation of state education policy. Liz holds a B.A. in English from Stanford University and an M.A. in English Education from Columbia University Teachers College.

Marcie biancoMarcie Bianco, PhD, is the managing editor of the Clayman Institute at Stanford University. She is a contributing editor at Curve magazine and a columnist at the Women’s Media Center. Winner of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association’s Excellence in Online Journalism Award in 2016, her journalism and editorial writing can be found both online and in print at Pacific Standard, Quartz, Rolling Stone, Salon, and Vanity Fair, among other outlets.
Bianco has an undergraduate degree in Government from Harvard (cum laude); a MSt in Women's Studies from the University of Oxford (Hertford College); and both a MA and a PhD in English Literature from Rutgers University. Her academic publications in journals and book collections run the gamut, from Christopher Marlowe to Gertrude Stein, trans-inclusive feminism to pop culture poetics. She has taught literature, composition, and social justice courses at Rutgers University, Fordham University, John Jay College, and Hunter College. Bianco writes, lectures, and makes media appearances on the topic of ethics, from feminism to race relations. A Lambda Literary Fellow in Nonfiction in 2013, her current creative writing projects include an autofiction about female academic affairs and a collection of feminist essays. marta hansonMarta Hanson is a passionate advocate working at the intersection of leadership development and social change. Her background spans reproductive rights, politics, leadership development, fundraising, business coaching, community building, and higher education, and she currently serves as Assistant Dean & Associate Director of the Stanford Women's Community Center, where she gets to help build and support a thriving intersectional feminist community. Through her work as a coach/facilitator, Marta brings strengths-based development to individuals and organizations doing social justice work. Marta serves as board co-chair of the Stanford Alumni Women's Impact Network (WIN), which connects Stanford alumni committed to social justice across the globe, and on the San Francisco advisory board of New Leaders Council (NLC), which trains and supports emerging progressive leaders. She holds degrees in American Studies and Feminist Studies from Stanford.

Mona thompsonMona Thompson is an improv performer, teacher, and coach. She began improvising in high school, continued in college as a member of the Stanford Improvisors, and never looked back. Currently, Mona is an ensemble member at Un-Scripted Theater Company and performs regularly with her two-woman group, Mona and Shara Do Improv. She teaches at BATS Improv, San Mateo High School, and Stanford University in the English for Foreign Students summer program. ruth cronkiteRuth Cronkite is a consulting professor in the Department of Sociology at Stanford University, a research health science specialist at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, and an associate at the Center for Health Policy/Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research. Her research focuses on the evaluation of mental health services, cohort studies of the long-term course of psychiatric disorders, and the influence of life context factors on the course of psychiatric disorders. She is director of the VA Postdoctoral Training Program in Health Services Research and is associate director of the VA Postdoctoral Training Program in Medical Informatics. Her book Alcoholism Treatment: Context, Process, and Outcome was deemed the Most Distinguished Book Reviewed in 1993 by the journal Addiction. She received a BA, MA and PhD in sociology from Stanford University and an MS in statistics, also from Stanford.

Sandy jenSandy co-leads engineering at Honor. Honor's mission is to remake home care and change the way older adults age at home. Along with Honor’s CEO Seth, Sandy co-founded Meebo, a consumer Internet company that brought instant messaging to the web in 2005. She led Meebo’s engineering team and joined Google after Meebo was acquired in 2012. Sandy graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University. She loves mentoring young entrepreneurs and is active in the women in tech circles. In her spare time, Sandy has her hands full with her son, she rock climbs and runs with her dog.

Taryn MooreTaryn Moore is the Manager of Special Projects at SchoolMint, an education technology startup in San Francisco. She has worked in ed tech since completing her M.A. in International Comparative Education at Stanford in 2015. Prior to that, Taryn spent three years in Shanghai, China, working in the field of education. Taryn lives in Oakland and spends as much of her free time as possible outdoors, cooking and/or eating vegetables, and having unfiltered discussions.
